My initial HID started going out at 54,000 miles. When they get started to go they will go out for awhile, then come back on whether or not you turn off and on the headlamp switch. It may go out one time a week, then it will be one time a day, then multiple times per day. So don’t delay, whether or not you have this intermittent issue you may as well get two of these and alter them yourself. I purchased 1 at a time, I substituted my passenger side initial because my driver side didn’t have any issues at that time. Seconds after I substituted the passenger side HID, I was standing in front of the Prius testing the new bulb, it looked great and bright, and I was happy, and wouldn’t you acknowledge it, but the driver side flickered out right then. What timing! My Daughter laughed when it comes to that. So I must have just bought 2 of them at the same time and changed them both at the same time.

When I pulled out the old HID from my 2008 Prius, and put them side by side with the new HID, they were identical, same numbers, same Philips makers That was a pleasant surprised

Don’t remove the bumper, no matter what any individual tells you. All you need is a small mirror and a flashlight and a screwdriver, search youtube for “How to adjust your Prius HID bulb in 10 minutes (part 1)”. If Jay may adjust this HID one handed while keeping a video camera in the other hand, then anyone can do this. I am 6-3 and have huge hands and I was capable to do this without removing the bumper.

The other reviews are right! I missed the Class Action suit by 10,000 miles. I did not even brother going to the merchandiser for a quoted After watching such a lot of videos I was capable to do this all by myself. Note I do not have any experience in working with cars. Dont go to the dealer, do it yourself.

I have a 2007 Prius, initial owner. In 2008 the head light had gone out and I went to the trader to get them replaced beneath warrenty (there is as well a recall on these headlights going out early). Now in 2011 my passenger side head light went out. I went to the merchandiser and they said the headlight bulb was going to be $200! No way, so I went to Auto zone to have them check out the percentage for me and it was $175. Ok… Amazon.com time. I find these headlight bulbs and they were a good price, not too cheap. I have had Phillips electronics in the past and they worked well. My only concern was that there were only 4 reviews. I gambled and bought 2 (as you are supposed to replace them in pairs). I had my friend install them for Free.99. He gave me the old bulbs that Toyota had installed the basi time they went out. THEY WERE THE SAME. So get these! They are good sufficient for Toyota and they will last when it comes to 2.5-3 years. I think it is time to go to Vegas with that luck!

HID bulbs don’t last forever. Replacing the bulbs will mend the Prius headlight shutting off issue. You don’t need to remove the bumper to put them in. I changed both in 20 minutes. This was the accurate same bulb that was in my Prius. Replacing the bulbs also corrected the headlight aim. The glass gets cooked or coated inside and shades the light. The headlight that was cutting out genuinely looked like it was way out of aim. New bulbs limited everything.

I installed these in a 2007 Toyota Prius, and despite a heap of comments on the internet it took only in regards to 15 min a bulb. I have been using them now for with regards to a month through snow and rain and haven’t had any problems.

This is the same OEM bulb as the original HID bulb in my 2006 Prius. I just replaced the passenger side HID bulb myself, saving $300 over what my mechanic was going to charge. The mechanic was going to charge $150 for the bulb and $200 for labor.

I’ve just ordered another bulb for the driver’s side, since it’s having the same “intermittent” outage issue. Another $300 saved…

Bought for a 2006 Toyota Prius – dealer quoted $300 to replace each headlight and my high millage disqualified me from the recall. The most unmanageable share about altering the bulbs is watching the terribly edited and poorly filmed How-To videos on you tube. I think the most helpful (& most difficult to watch due to camera shake) is the guy who films it himself with one hand while changing the bulb with the other hand. I was able to alter out both in about 30 minutes without touching the bumper. Now it is good as new.

I confirm that these are the same bulbs I took out and the new one work great. Used YouTube to learn how to alter the bulbs and after trying the 3 minute short cut instructions – decisive I would not damage the other parts of the car by following the video on how to decently alter the Prius bulb. I did find out that there were such a great deal of shortcuts I could take on the bumper cover remotion that saved galore time. Took me two hours by myself at an easy pace.
