Britax Advocate Convertible Current Version
After totalling my truck in January 2010 (one of the worst winters in Boston), I decisive to do my exploration and upgrade the car seat that we had. Oh, our kid was luckily not in the truck at the time of the accident and as luck would have it there were no severe injuries either…
I did my research and found out that this is one THE BEST and safest car seats one may put their hands on. Unfortunately, this is as well one of the most highpriced car seats out there! I actually do wish this car seat was less expensively specially since I had to buy two (one for each each I did search everyplace and at long last this was the best price you may get at Two Hundred Seventy Four dollars and Ninety nine cents with Free shipping. I looked for over a few months!
As far as the product goes, you’ll immediately grasp why this seat is so outstanding once you get it out of the box. You may alter the straps without having to take your car seat out to modify them in the back! It comes with side impacts to protect your childs head! The accident we were in, the truck fish tailed and hit an angle so this was a tremendous plus for me! The “Click and Safe” mechanism was a bit mixing up to me at introductory but it is just a clicking noise letting the parent acknowledge while shortening the seatbelt that the belt is now snug around their kid already seated in it and that the kid is safe now. Personally, I noticed that it was not precise since on occasion the seatbelt gets caught by the velcro but it still thinks it is snug. Needless to say I double check to make certain the seatbelt is no more than 2 fingers loose.
The Positive:
- Feels and looks very safe
- Very Sturdy
- Supports kids from 5 – 70 lbs which means you can use this for a LONG time (offsets the price a little since you don’t need to upgrade it as often)
- Very comfortable, my child doesn’t mind being seated in it! Actually tries to firmly attach the seatbelt too! The material is very soft…
- The cover comes off to be washed and put back
- Reclines
- effortlessly adjusts to the height of the kid
- Uses Safecell technology, looks and feels like styrofoam but this unquestionably assists absorb galore of the shock in an accident.
The Negative:
- The Price!!!
- Can’t alter the recline once anchored in the car
Would I commend this to a friend? Yes, whether or not you can afford it but I would buy it only when its on sale…
I ought to also mention this since I was struggling with the reclining percentage of this car seat. You will have to recline the seat to whatsoever angle you want it BEFORE you anchor the car seat into the car. Once anchored you will NOT be competent to alter the recline unless you remove the anchors first, I believe that was a safety feature since they don’t want the seat to recline when in an accident may be? Anyways, at the end of the day, I feel better knowing that my child is very well protected in this car seat and thats all that matters…
A couple of links (1- Britax internet site with further and added product description and features and 2- a youtube video which is a mercantile of the Britax Advocate 70 cs) that may be helpful with regards to this car seat (not sure whether or not Amazon will delete them after I post but here they are anyways):

My wife and I bought this seat after extensively research/selection process. We made the decision to buy the Advocate 70CS after concluding it had the best safety ratings, no matter of expensive
We installed it in our Honda CR-V using latch system, all appeared well (although it was more or less slanted to one side, we couldnt seem to get it straight).
This week (after virtually one year of use) we were horrified to discover that the reason it was constantly slanted was because it was missing one of the two initial bolts utilized to fasten the restraint bar to the base (as a result, the latch scheme was wholly to a complete degree When I removed the seat from the car, the latch belt merely fell off the chair! This means in an accident, our seat would not have been adequately restrained to the base. A few quick searches online showed various others had the same issue (missing parts). I called Britax, they are promptly shipping us a new car seat, no questions asked.
I will be writing a letter to the President of Britax with my worries regarding this obscene lapse in quality control. That being said, I still have high selfassurance that Britax offers the best child car seat available, assuming it is the right way configured/equipped. I URGE CURRENT OWNERS TO INSPECT THEIR SEATS, and for new owners to check the seat for missing components prior to install.
This car seat is hands down the BEST forward facing car seat I have owned. I have a 4 year old son and a 14 month old daughter. I have been through a ton of car seats trying to find that perfective one for my son. For my daughter, I decisive to attempt out the Britax Advocate 70 CS as her initial forward facing carseat and whether or not I liked it I would get a Britax for my son as well. Initially, I was hesitant as to whether or not I must get the one with the air bladders or not. Boy am I glad I did! I love the added shelter it has for my small one. I have read reviews that Britax car seats are actually heavy, bulky, and a pain to install. I don’t find them to be THAT much heavier than toting a 20+ lb. 1 year old around in a newborn car seat. Installation was very simple as well. I love the push button latch strategy that came with the car seat because it unquestionably makes it posing no difficulty to install and remove whether or not needed. Because of the Latch strategy that came with this car seat I was able to install the car seat so snug that there was no wiggle room at all.
The only 2 cons I would state in regards to the car seat are that 1. I wish there was more pattern designs to choose from and 2. I am not a vast fan of how they designed the button for the strap freed It took me a few minutes to actually figure out how it worked because initially I thought the button was going to be more specified then it was. It wasn’t until I just started pressing down that I realized where it was. You actually have to dig to get to it is But even so, isn’t too much of a problem.
Overall, I would buy this car seat and would highly commend it to anyone! Take my word for it because I for one and VERY picky when it comes to my children’s safety. The price may be costly for some, but in my sentiment it is worth it because you can’t put a price on your small ones.
For our initial child, we’ve had at least six or so carseats so far, between our cars, Grandma’s car, and just not liking such a great deal of models. We now have two Britax Advocate 70 CS’s and, whether or not we could go back, would only have ever purchased these (once past the carrier stage). We looked at a number of different car seats and reviews when picking the various carseats – to be honest, all of the others were not cheap, but certainly lower priced than this carseat. The reason I originally purchased this model was because it was the only carseat that had a small enough base to fit in the back seat of my 2009 Challenger (there’s not a lot of room there). I fell in love with it immediately, though.
The auto-click when the seat is tight enough is really great – always check to make sure, but it’s always been right for me. Next, there’s installation – such a lot of seats are a small more comfortable to install with the “pistol-grip” clips that go right on. The Britax is a small more difficult to get around. However, ease-to-fit, the Britax is the best. What I mean by this is that, while installation is just a small bit harder than with such a great deal of seats, the Britax effortlessly gets to the correct tightness while we’ve had other seats that just always have seemed a little loose – not a sentiment you want in regards to a carseat.
The best part of the Britax is really the structure itself. My son got a little sick in the car once, which led to a quick rush home and throwing of the carseat out of my very-loved car, with my significantly-more-loved son being cleaned up and comforted at the same time. Once he was in new clothes and back to running around playing, I set to the chore of cleaning the seat – I was not looking forward to this. However, it turned out to be a very simply job and, after washing and soaping everything several times, I then became worried that everything might not go back to being as soft as it was. However, I was defective – all the muck came out and all of the felt hanged up and dried out just fine – word of warning, don’t leave the manual in the carseat pocket while cleaning its it leads to no longer having a manual (available online, though).
Really, the only downside to this carseat is the price, but, as I mentioned, it’s well worth it is
After spending hours reading reviews on carseats I finally decided to go with the Britax Advocate 70cs. I have been so happy with this carseat that I bought two (one for each each The safety of carseat cant be surpassed. The only bad remarks I could find was the bulkiness of the seat. Yes, there are unquestionably littler carseats out theres however, when it comes to my son’s safety I would instead have a hearty seat with extra safety features. Although it is larger than some, it still fits rear facing in my husband’s Chevy 2500 extended cab truck without a difficultnesses My son is 13 months old and seems very comfortable in the seat. I love that it will be able to grow with him for quite awhile! I would definitely commend this carseat!
Luckily, my little son has not been in an accident so I can’t tell you how this seat performed beneath horrid conditions. I researched forEVER to find the most sturdy, safe car seat and found that Britax is the ONLY car seat that met my high standards. This car seat is tested at 60 mph (front impact) and ALL other car seats are tested at 30 mph. So, a 5-star rating at 30 mph would be way different whether or not it were tested at 60 mph. Britax also does twice as numerous tests as any other car seat company. When I got this car seat, I was so excessively affected emotionally to find that it is rock solid in quality. The steel bars running through the seat up through the back are so comforting. Every other car seat I looked at in person person the $200 + ones, were made of only plastic). I am a firstborn time mother, so I don’t acknowledge how difficult it is to install other car seats, but it did take some time to figure out how to install it (even even even though the directions were clear). The car seat seems on the wider side, probably because of the side affect cushions for the other passengers. whether or not the seat is in fully reclined rear facing position, you can’t recline your front passenger seat whether or not you have a littler vehicle (we have a small SUV Ford Escape). But, everything when it comes to installing it was incredible though as far as safety goes. Everything is so securely clamped down, this carseat is not going anywhere. I was completely impressed. It does not move or budge, it has no wiggle room. It is heavy, sturdy and solid. I like this because I want my son to be safe. I will never compromise buying a lightweight smaller car seat just for my own ease. I figure, what’s the point of even having a car seat whether or not it’s not going to protect my child in the event of an auto accident. I will do whatsoever it takes. The fact that paramedics recommend this car seat above all other speaks volumes. Also, the seat is soft and comfy – the seat and the straps – and my son seems really cozy and happy in its I am SO happy about this car seat in every way.
this is our firstborn convertible car seat bought we had a chicco key fit prior to this and knew we wanted a britax. amazon had the best expensive it is a bit large with the side air cushions, but i think it is worth its plus we only have one child. it may be a concern if you have 2 car seats installed. i have it in the middle seat, forward facing in a station wagon and our son loves it! he can see so much now. the only 2 reasonably negative comments are that the head rest is not easily adjustable once the car seat is installed. i broke out in a sweat trying to adjust it the other day. i don’t know if that is just mine or if they are all like that. the second thing is that i love the reclining feature, but it can not be changed unless you undo the seat belt. which means you have to have the child out and undo the cover. perchance this is a safety feature, but i wished it could be done so i could recline it if he happens to be a sleep. i HIGHLY suggest having your child sit in it before you install its
We bought this in addition to a Britax seat we already have in my Wife’s car. My car being an SUV we decided to get the seat with extra shelter on the sides. Which I think will be of more use for passengers in the event of an accident. Word of warning. I am 6’3 and the seat only just fits in behind the driver’s seat when rear facing but leaves more than enough space too easily fit the baby in to the seat. Being 6’3 makes loading the baby in to the seat requiring little effort for me; my wife who is 5’5 finds it slightly more difficult as she now has to lift the baby in to the seat rather than lowering him in to it is I would advice for SUV use only due to the total overall size of the seat.
From our babies point of view he loves the seat the texture of the cowmooflarge he loves and the nice sung fit helps him sleep well on longer trips. As we use this seat in a SUV he has great view out the back windows of the car which he enjoys. From a cot point of view I think you have to view it in this context do you put a value on your baby’s life?
Super strong and trust worthy!!!
I’ve heard so many good things about Britax Advocate 70 CS.
It’s very safe and comfortable for baby!
This is definitely “MUST HAVE ITEM”!!
